We give what we have
Did you know that we cannot give what we do not have?
Somebody said something like this: “We carry the seed of legacy that we will transfer”. Each one of us has something to give to others, something to share or to pass on to those after us; it can be some words of encouragement in tough times, it can be a presence in a particular moment of loneliness, it can be some material help, financial support, it can be spiritual assistance, mentor-ship and so on … .
But in all that, whether to our children, to our relatives, to our friends, or to those under our influence, we give what we have, from who we are and from what we have received.
Jesus says: “Every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.” (Matt.7:17-18)
We are privileged to receive from our Creator, when we are born, the fundamentals of who we are, which will be obviously in fullness by what we learn, experience, study; family education, social environment, and friends we are exposed to, but more significantly by being trained up in the Way of the Lord, according to His Word, and, added, to that a good and true Christian church atmosphere.
We can be naturally kind, simple, very gifted, friendly, easy givers, warm, very attentive to others’ needs, very sensitive to others’ pain, etc… . or it can be the opposite, depending on the direction of the influence we have been submitted to and the way we can see things after all.
But James 1: 17 in the Bible says: “Every Good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation of shadow of turning.”
God wants us to be good and to do what is good to us and to others.
“You shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect”, says Jesus.(Matt.5:48)
“And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.”(Eph.4:32)
We all are called into existence to be helpers or givers, to be useful to others, to transfer values, and to reproduce. But, what kind of person will you be to others, what values will you transfer; what will they see, those who look to you, to us, as a guide? What kind of generation will follow you? What legacy will you leave after you?
Since we cannot give what we do not have and we will give anyway, what do you have to give? How would you like to be remembered?
Let us carry what is good, a good seed; so that however, whenever and wherever we will be in position to sow, to invest, we will do it positively with joy. Then, it will produce good trees and bring good fruits in the lives of others and those we will leave after us.
May the Lord always have among the nations many who will be willing to represent Him faithfully, everywhere on earth for the cause of Christ.
