Forgiveness
God commands us to forgive.
Through the Bible, God teaches humanity how important forgiveness is, and how much He cannot forgive those who refuse to forgive others.
In the “Our Father’s Prayer”, Jesus states this: “Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors” (Matt. 6 : 12). From there He already set that our forgiveness to others conditions God’s forgiveness toward us.
Then Jesus brought more light over the matter when He declares in Matt. 6 : 14, 15:
“If you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."
That is why Jesus gave an unexpected answer to one of His disciples (Peter) who asked Him once: How many times should we forgive those who offend us, should it be up to seven times?
Then Jesus replied to him: “I will not tell you up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven”.
So my friends, let us practice forgiveness. Let's forgive others to avoid God's judgment on our life, which is evident, but let's do it so that we look like Christ.
